Situated on Roodeplaat dam this is a lovely angling resort suited for the whole family. There are around 30 Caravan stands and a few wooden cabins. You are aloud 6 people and two vehicles per caravan stand @ R200 per night. The stands are a bit on the small side and I would not suggest more than four rods per stand, although it is possible with some effort to fish six rods.
There is a pool on the premises with a small shop where you can buy your day to day requirements. A Spar is also located about 1.5Km from the resort. The resort is under new management and a lot of money and effort is spent to keep the resort neat and tidy. They have a few staff members that clean the unwanted hyacinth out and this makes for a pleasant angling experience.
Some nice carp have been landed at Anglersfreind and it is not uncommon to get stuck into double figure carp as they do frequent these waters quite often.
Hengelaarsvriend / Fishermansfriend is situated 10 km outside Pretoria on the banks of the Roodeplaatdam. The resort was founded some 30 years ago by David & Martha Kemp. The tranquil setting along the waterfront was home to families leisurely spending time together. The call of the Kingfisher and majestic Fish Eagle along with many other wildlife completes the setting.
Clients consists of, Caravan Campers and fishermen camping under the beautiful Willow trees allowing for plenty of shade along the waterfront as well as day visitors enjoying the swimming pools. Resent development includes fully furnished guest houses, where the weary traveler and inquisitive explorer both are welcomed and invited to enjoy tipical South African hospitality. The new wooden deck built into the water will be our long awaited Restaurant and meeting place. Qaulity and service awaits the visitor.

Hierdie is werklik enige hengelaar se vriend. Ek en my vrou Elize het die naweek, 11 tot 14 Februarie by Natuurbewaring, n hane-tree vanaf hengelaarsvriend gaan hengel. Net 4 klein karpies uitgetrek. Ek weet nie of ons die verkeerde aas gebruik het nie, maar daar het die naweek oor die algemeen baie min vis uitgekom. Drie naweke terug het ons by Hengelaarsvriend gehengel met baie beter sukses. Die badkamers is meestal skoon, die gras is altyd kort en netjies, die swembaddens altyd skoon en die personeel en eienaars altyd vriendelik en meer as bereid om te help met enige probleem! Voorwaar enige hengelaar se vriend!!!
