Bosparadys
Bosparadys

Bosparadys is situated approximately 20 km on the road to Brits from Magaliesburg in the North West province and is about an hours drive from Johannesburg. You can find their milk in most SPAR supermarkets and shops in Johannesburg. I only made the connection when I reached the farm and saw all the dairy cows.
The farm has two dams. The larger dam is for mostly for Carp fishing where as the smaller dam have Bass and Trout. When you enter the gate to access the dams there is a large painted sign that warn that “Kiep Nets†is not allowed and that catch and release is at the order of the day.
The Carp dam has 5 rondawels which sleeps between 2 and 4 persons at R200 and R 300 a day, but in case you have a bigger crowd in mind, there is a house that sleeps about 8 people and the rate is R 125 per person
The swims are relatively small and I would not recommend using the house's swim except if there is nobody next to you in the rondawel. If that is the case, there is a day visitor's space, which I thought would be ideal to fish from. If you have a look at the aerial photograph, it is situated at the top middle of the dam
I fished with a conventional and a specimen rod. With conventional I did very well although the size of the carps I caught was nothing to get excited about. On the specimen side I laid down hemp seed as ground bait with FX Boilies. It took about 4 hours before I had a run, unfortunately I have no photo of the Carp since I had to repair a crow's nest, but more about this can be read in the funnies on the forum. I also thought that I will catch another one, this however did not realise to my dismay.
One last thing, due to the size of the venue, they were already fully booked by September for the rest of 2008. Unless you can get away, to go and fish in the week, make your booking well in advance.
