Leisure Lakes - Leisure Angling

THE CLUB
Leisure Lakes Specimen Club was established six years ago on a private farm in the Midrand area. Before the stretch of water became a syndicate club water very few anglers new about it and only a few anglers both conventional and specimen were allowed to fish it as a day ticket water. Mainly used by BFA as testing grounds for their baits.
Due to an article in one of the angling magazines about Leisure Lakes, an influx of anglers started fishing the lake. This led to some problems both the fish and environment got badly damaged. The article was fully responsible for the creation of Leisure Lakes Specimen Club. A group of concerned anglers got together and decided that to protect the fish and the area the lake needed to be syndicated. This was done and a lot of hard work went into starting the club. General rules and regulations were put in place and these were followed by all the members. A year later our club had double the membership and the year after that we doubled the previous year. It was clear that there was a need among anglers to fish in a regulated environment where everyone felt the same about the sport and the environment.
